The film is based on a unique document: a diary kept by a prisoner of the Baranovichi Ghetto - Zelik Levinbuk during the occupation. The young surgeon recorded the tragedy unfolding before his eyes day by day. Every page is steeped in the atmosphere of the time: pain, despair, hope, and the struggle for survival.

Of the 12,000 Jews in Baranovichi, only a few hundred survived. Zelik Levinbuk was one of the lucky ones; together with his wife and eight-year-old son, he miraculously managed to escape the horrific Koldychevo camp—only to publish his personal testimony of the genocide after the war.
